This blog is about coffee and thinking. Specifically thinking about some of the strangeness that is all around us. I can’t decide if this is caused by new web communications or whether people, indeed society is simply getting weirder or a combination of both. I am Jonathan Hargreaves and I like coffee preferrably cold. I also like cheese as in cheesiness and so have called this Society 2.0. And yes I work at Edelman but have requested to be shot if I ever do a video blog and this may explain eratic postings.

Welcome to the blogging malarky Jonathan. The coffee is sometimes served cold here too, and with your blogroll and a blog title like that I thoughtfor a minute you were a certain analyst relations manager I know who also prefers cold to hot…

Thanks Drew after months of nagging I finally succumbed to the persuasion of Bentwood and Brain a couple no one wants on their back … but I am standing by my guns … no video blog … I am no oil painting

It happens to us all in the end.
Like the post about experts on war and experts on design. Strikes me that there’s still an early ’90s command and control nostalgia about you, too. I think we all have it, to be honest.

Can a business be run on democratic lines?
July 5, 2007 at 9:03 am
In the spirit of democracy, yes.
But in a way that Democracies need to respect leadership and particpatory/ collective decision-making and responsibilities.
The Hobbes’ Leviathan model of business of course does not work and is destined to fail.

Is there a difference between collective decision-making and authority from the bottom up?
July 5, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Yes. I think there is

You people seriously think I have enough time on my hands to keep checking YOUR blog for messages to me? Shame on you. Between IM and Facebook I barely have enough time in the day anyway.
